This weekend we stayed with some friends and I wanted to thank them for their hospitality by making something. I was seriously stumped all day on Friday, but I finally came decided to make a REAL cherry pie! What a view from their home!
Being up north, I have been able to find fruit that is not normally available. I have made cherry pies before with the dark sweet cherries, but the consistency and flavor was not the same as the a regular tart cherry pie that one has at restaurants. The pie came out so nice I was so excited, but as we sliced it, I noticed that the cherry sauce did not thicken up! To my horror, I realized I used powdered sugar instead of cornstarch!!! The pie tasted great but it did not thicken up. Oh well, the pictures turned out great!
