When you hear blogger dinner you might imagine a dinner with more than 2 people right? Well, this dinner in downtown Philly was only a two blogger dinner with a fab PR gal from MorningStar Farms. After creating a burger recipe for MorningStar Farms “Feel Good Grilling” Tour, I was told I was invited to a nice local farm-to-table restaurant in Philly called Supper. (check out my giveaway!)
I enjoy going to local places but why were we invited there? Chef and owner Mitch Prensky was going to be at Manayunk Art Festival this weekend where he was making his own version of veggie sliders with MorningStar Farms.
This was my husband’s first night with BOTH girls and my FIRST night all alone so it was a huge deal. Would I be able to relax? I took a train into downtown and walked a few blocks and arrived at Supper. Dinner turned out the be a relaxed and wonderful night with 2 lovely gals. We enjoyed a variety of dishes with a several visits from the chef. I love it when chefs come to tables.
How often does the chef change his menu? Well, since it is a farm-to-table restaurant the dishes depend on the in-season produce so Chef Prensky said he changed it 8-10 times. Wow!
The food was SO good. There were so many fresh flavors and lots of options for both veggie eaters and meat eaters. The environment was cozy and elegant yet relaxed.
Check out what we had!
tamale fries |
Spicy but delicious! Must make these somehow!
tamale fries |
cheddar and sage cheese puffs |
Amazing, light, and SO much flavor!
cheese tray |
Tomato jam on cheese. YUM!!! They make their own too!
cornbread hush puppies |
These were the most flavorful hush puppies I have had in a long time. They were perfectly crispy too! Want more…..
dayboat scallops |
Delicious scallops. I had not really had scallops until we moved to Pennsylvania, now it is my husband’s and my favorite seafood.
fried brussels sprouts |
I could eat this as my main entree, just serve me more. I like brussels sprouts but this was FANTASTIC and crispy. The corn relish was fresh and paired with pimento cheese on the side? Whoa!
grilled hanger steak |
Enough said. Meat eaters dream!
Mahi Mahi |
My dish was my favorite by far. Mahi mahi was light and meaty. So many flavors that came to make one perfect dish. I simply loved the presentation and the bold flavors.
If you get a chance try Supper in the city. You will not regret the awesome experience! I cannot wait to come with my husband and share this with him.
Thanks MorningStar Farms and Chef Prensky!
