Adventure Aquarium Family Experience + 4-pack ticket Giveaway

    July 2nd, 2013

Disclosure: I received a complimentary product for the purposes of this giveaway. No monetary compensation was provided for this post.

Last month I was able to attend a Mommy Blogger Event to the Aquarium in Camden, New Jersey. I never knew I would be attending so many events when we moved to Pennsylvania. When I told my hubby that the girls and I were going he was bummed because he likes the aquarium over the zoo. Now we have a reason to go again!

We arrived before the public was admitted so that we were given full access to every area of the aquarium. We got to see a baby alligator at the beginning.

We later got to see the penguins start their day by taking a dip.

Julianne was definitely taking it all in. She LOVES water so she was running everywhere to catch a glimpse of water.

The underwater was so intriguing to my 20-month old. She was actually seeing LIVE fish instead of seeing fish in a book. Sharks and more too!

She kept asking me “Up!” just to be able to see every section with fish and creature. She would have climbed up if she could. She was constantly desperate to see MORE!

How about the gigantic alligator, called Mighty Mike? We all got to take pictures in front of the tank. So menacing!

I think the most exciting section (for me), was the music area. There were stations where kids could make music with different tins. There were also areas for kids to touch star fish, sting rays and small sharks. All very safe! There was even a station to wash hands too.

Did I mention that it was just the girls and me? I used my baby carrier to take the 4-month old and I took the stroller in case I needed to take a break with her. It all worked real well especially since the 4-month old LOVES looking around. She was taking it in really well.

Can you see the speed and the number of fish? It was hard to keep up with Julianne. She was just a happy toddler.

Once we got to the Jules Verne room it was darker so I was able to hold her and keep her close to me. We talked through every sea creature in awe.

    More jellyfish!

    What an amazing octopus!

My next favorite section was the shark tunnel.I wish we had  more time in that area but it was the lat section of our tour and my children were on their last leg before lunch time. I could have been in there for 30 minutes.

Kathleen enjoyed every moment and she was quiet the whole time! I loved that.

Want a chance to visit this awesome place? Here is your chance to win the following:

Prize: 4-pack of General Admission tickets to Adventure Aquarium. They are valid for 1 year (365 days) past the date of issue.

    Buffalo Chicken Spaghetti Squash

    June 25th, 2013
    Buffalo Chicken Spaghetti Squash 1

Last week I made this quick meal for our family that was a big winner! I noticed a great recipe in on of my blogger groups on Facebook which took me to Foodologie. She had prepared this recipe in 30 minutes. I made my first Buffalo Chicken lettuce boats 2 years ago for the first time that I knew I had to make these.

The original recipe called for quinoa but Karla decided to sub spaghetti squash for quinoa. Personally I cannot wait to try the original recipe as well since I like quinoa, but since my husband does not I decided to make the recipe with the squash.

Even though my husband is not a fan of squash I thought this recipe would be a winner.

    Buffalo Chicken Spaghetti Squash

This recipe is definitely low-carb. I left out the cabbage and doubled the carrots. I also added chopped cilantro as well because it was calling out to me. I really cannot do blue cheese so I changed it with feta cheese.

The meal was VERY satisfying but it needed something crunchy like pita chips on the side. I know the cabbage would be the crunch but I am not eating cabbage at the moment.

Yum! I lurve this recipe and you should make it soon!. Check out the original recipe HERE!

    Blogger Dinner at Supper #supperphilly

    June 24th, 2013

When you hear blogger dinner you might imagine a dinner with more than 2 people right? Well, this dinner in downtown Philly was only a two blogger dinner with a fab PR gal from MorningStar Farms. After creating a burger recipe for MorningStar Farms “Feel Good Grilling” Tour, I was told I was invited to a nice local farm-to-table restaurant in Philly called Supper. (check out my giveaway!)

I enjoy going to local places but why were we invited there? Chef and owner Mitch Prensky was going to be at Manayunk Art Festival this weekend where he was making his own version of veggie sliders with MorningStar Farms.

This was my husband’s first night with BOTH girls and my FIRST night all alone so it was a huge deal. Would I be able to relax? I took a train into downtown and walked a few blocks and arrived at Supper. Dinner turned out the be a relaxed and wonderful night with 2 lovely gals. We enjoyed a variety of dishes with a several visits from the chef. I love it when chefs come to tables.

How often does the chef change his menu? Well, since it is a farm-to-table restaurant the dishes depend on the in-season produce so Chef Prensky said he changed it 8-10 times. Wow!

The food was SO good. There were so many fresh flavors and lots of options for both veggie eaters and meat eaters. The environment was cozy and elegant yet relaxed.

    Check out what we had!

    tamale fries

Spicy but delicious! Must make these somehow!
    tamale fries

    cheddar and sage cheese puffs

Amazing, light, and SO much flavor!

    cheese tray

Tomato jam on cheese. YUM!!! They make their own too!

    cornbread hush puppies
These were the most flavorful hush puppies I have had in a long time. They were perfectly crispy too! Want more…..

    dayboat scallops
Delicious scallops. I had not really had scallops until we moved to Pennsylvania, now it is my husband’s and my favorite seafood.

    fried brussels sprouts
I could eat this as my main entree, just serve me more. I like brussels sprouts but this was FANTASTIC and crispy. The corn relish was fresh and paired with pimento cheese on the side? Whoa!

    grilled hanger steak

    Enough said. Meat eaters dream!

    Mahi Mahi
My dish was my favorite by far. Mahi mahi was light and meaty. So many flavors that came to make one perfect dish. I simply loved the presentation and the bold flavors.

If you get a chance try Supper in the city. You will not regret the awesome experience! I cannot wait to come with my husband and share this with him.

Thanks MorningStar Farms and Chef Prensky!
